16A - What's your secret sauce?

1)
a)  I am not afraid to put myself in situations and opportunities to meet new people and absorb new information.
b) I truly try my best to detach myself from my ego always, which makes it easy when receiving criticism to capitalize on it.
c) I am motivated by helping others have a good experience in whatever it is that they are doing. I get much more satisfaction from people telling me they love the product/experience than from receiving monetary reinforcement.
d) People can tell the difference between when someone is genuinely interested in someone or when they are using others as a means to an end. I believe that my ability to foster relationships and treat others for what they are is undervalued and that I encompass that trait.
e) I speak three languages: English, Spanish and Italian. I think that speaking different languages with people stimulates creativity and gets me thinking in a different way.

Each person I interviewed came from different areas of my life, so they were all different in how I met each of them but they surprisingly had similar things to say about me.
1st interview: Travis I met through the innovation hub, and he said that I had a great attitude and I was able to leave anything else going on in my life away from work. He said that I was also humble in my work and made it all about work, not ego.
2nd interview: Sofia said that I work well with others and under pressure. She also said that I tend to be patient towards others, which is flattering. I do believe I am more or less patient but I feel like I could work more on that.
3rd interview: Krishna I met through taking the same personal training course at Southwest Rec during this past fall. He saw that I worked well with others and admired my work ethic throughout the course.
4th interview: Isabella says that I do a great job at communicating with others and that my commitment to work in front of me is unwavering. She also says that I would be perfect for working on "hard, long projects".
5th interview: Fred thinks that I am work-oriented and consistent in my work. I approached Fred at a convention networking event and he was amazed by my confidence in approaching others.

3. I think that patience is not one of my strong suits, although that is what Travis saw in me. So that is a discrepancy that I noticed while conducting the interviews. I think presenting myself in different ways around certain people can cause them to see me differently than how I am in my ground state. I see that my interviewees said different things than what I personally thought my strengths were. I don't think I would change much personally.

  1. Hey Jason, the fact that you know three languages is a benefit which you perhaps may not have realized the extent of. From your interviews, it does sound like you are a sociable and especially hard-working person. As aspiring entrepreneurs, it is something that we are always told we need and it can be hard to develop. I struggle with being patient as well, I guess it is something we must both learn.
