Figuring out buyer behavior - 15A

Alternative Evaluation : Based on the interviews I conducted, I found that all three of my interviewees stated that price was the largest factor when it came to buying something, however quality was seen as very important as well. Two of the three interviewees stated that they would pay a higher price for a better quality product that would last longer. The style was the next most important thing in all of the interviews, after quality. How/where do they buy? Based on the interviews, buying in person appeared to be more popular than buying through e-commerce because of wanting things instantly. If the product is available in store, then the consumers are more likely to buy in store than online. Whether or not the financing was preferred over buying something outright was largely dependent on the person's financial status. One of the interviewees stated if they had the money, then purchasing it outright was preferred. Post-purchase evaluation: Necessity and how much the product w...

16A - What's your secret sauce?

1) a)  I am not afraid to put myself in situations and opportunities to meet new people and absorb new information. b) I truly try my best to detach myself from my ego always, which makes it easy when receiving criticism to capitalize on it. c) I am motivated by helping others have a good experience in whatever it is that they are doing. I get much more satisfaction from people telling me they love the product/experience than from receiving monetary reinforcement. d) People can tell the difference between when someone is genuinely interested in someone or when they are using others as a means to an end. I believe that my ability to foster relationships and treat others for what they are is undervalued and that I encompass that trait. e) I speak three languages: English, Spanish and Italian. I think that speaking different languages with people stimulates creativity and gets me thinking in a different way. 2.  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sfoim9i75o6olcl/AAC6stzQ1X0wla7GNl...

14A - Halfway reflection

Image
1) Setting reminders constantly on my phone on set times to do assignments have allowed me to become more time-efficient and prioritize work. Also setting aside certain time throughout the days to complete the assigments. 2) There are lots of times where I feel like giving up. I lose vision of what I am doing everything for and it feels like I am driving down a road and I don't know where I am. Learning to stay the course and having thick skin are habits that I have developed as a result. 3) Developing a tenacious attitude is easiest when people do work that moves them in an emotional way, and impacts them. So I would say to take classes and develop a student mindset in everything you do will help develop tenacity. And being around people that have values that are similar to what one aspires to be is equally important.

Figuring out buyer behavior No.1

1. For the segment, I chose a demographic of young college students, from 18-25 years of age 2. Need Awareness - throughout the interviews I conducted, it appears that the need becomes most salient after sundown when it is dark outside. The interviewers would say that they felt uncomfortable walking their dog or taking out the trash at night because of the lack of lights where the lived. The need is most salient when clients are home by themselves and need to go outside for a particular reason and cannot see well outside. This makes them scared. When the person feels uncomfortable or cannot see very well outside, they typically use the light on their phone or bring out a flashlight. 2 of 3 of the clients have porch lights that they leave on and stay close to their home so that they are able to see. 1 of the clients has tiki torches that are used in the backyard at night. Clients typically search for different lights so that they can see better and be more aware of surroundings. S...

Reading Reflection No.1 - 13A

Muhammad Yunus / $27 and a dream What surprised you the most? - Muhammad's faith and belief in the poor being able to learn and manage on their own is something that very few people, especially middle-upper class people believe. He started a business in the form of banking, called Grameen Bank, but with the purpose to help the poor receive credit and get on their feet by teaching them a few financial principles. What about the entrepreneur do you most admire? - With his smarts and the path he took, Muhammad could have very easily been a wealthy magnate in the United States and set his sights on building wealth. Rather than do this, Muhammad did what I thought was paradoxical; he created a banking system that was actually in favor of the poor. No banking system in the history of the world has ever treated micro-credit as a need and taught financial principles to the poor. They usually exploit ignorance and profit off of it. I really admire that Muhammad has done this for the po...

Idea Napkin No. 1 - 11A

You - I am a psychology student at the University of Florida. Many of my strengths include diplomacy, an ability to see things from the perspective of clients and my ability to accept and learn from criticism. My aspirations include improving the lighting in residential areas all around Gainesville, including the University of Florida to ensure the safety of the community. This role would improve the lives of many by creating a safer environment while driving/walking at night. What are you offering to customers? - I am offering a more efficient method to better illuminate the dark, residential streets of Gainesville and throughout campus. Many residents of the community have experienced robberies, a fear of going outside at night and simply not being able to see well when driving, and I believe that by solving this unmet need of lighting, people will feel safer getting around at night. Who are you offering it to? - All of my customers live in areas that lack sufficient lighting durin...

Elevator Pitch #1

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: There do appear to be a handful of certain people who fall out of the boundary for this service. Since the service would most likely be a public good for the community, with not much opportunity from a monetary profit, the City of Gainesville and the GRU appear to fall outside the boundary. With more efficient lighting, costs will run lower and that means less money to the GRU. What: The need I have discussed regarding the implementation of safer, more efficient lights throughout the city, does not appear to be as serious as other more innate needs, such as the need to be loved by others or hunger/thirst. This may dissuade the city or other companies to produce such a product with this knowledge in mind. Why: The underlying cause of outsider's need is, in fact, different than the need for those that fall within the boundary. There are two different populations of interest, and one is the beneficiary while the other is majorly the one providing the service. ' Insi...

8A-Solving the problem

The problem/ selected opportunity : Lighting in Gainesville residential/university areas are not efficient in the way they run. Currently, high-pressure sodium vapor lamps and incandescent lights are being used as a form of outdoor lighting to illuminate the streets, which is not nearly as efficient and cost-effective as other forms of lighting. Solution: Rather than continuing to use incandescent lights which require more maintenance and more costs in replacing, and paying an electrician to replace them. Implementing more energy-efficient lights in the streets, such as compact fluorescent lights that are moderated, or halogen lights rather than the sodium vapor lamps. These forms of lighting can be up to 100% more energy efficient and can be better for eye health. These lights are already in existence so this issue can be resolvable easily. The current lights are not cutting it and are simply outdated. Although it can be a private service to residential areas that pay a neighborhood...
